South Pennines Park: a landscape for the future, a space for everyone

An exciting opportunity has arisen to help shape the future of the beautiful South Pennines landscape and its communities, especially young people. With support from Calderdale Council, Pennine Prospects is looking for an exceptional person to help deliver a 12 month development phase of an innovative project ‘A virtual South Pennines – a healthy way to do IT!’

Job Purpose:

A 12 month partnership pilot to develop a 3-5 year project that looks at utilising IT and social media platforms to support the health and wellbeing of young people living in the area of the South Pennies Park based on the Government’s 25 year Environment Plan and the NHS 10 year Plan and other relevant strategies and plans.

This post will be to:

- Conduct, collate and analyse research and develop insights to create an options paper for project development

- Report with recommendations on insight findings and an understanding on why under-represented groups are not engaging, together with opportunities that will support long-term behaviour change within target communities

- Develop partnerships with local, regional and national organisations who can support getting people to engage with the natural environment

- Develop a roll-out project of 3-5 years duration beyond 2020

- Identify and source funding streams to ensure legacy of project and to deliver the 3-5 year project, including a budget for a demonstration model

- Identify community champions

- Identify appropriate partnerships to support delivery

- Pioneer insights in hard-to-reach communities in Calderdale

Our dramatic upland landscape is surrounded by urban towns and cities in West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester and East Lancashire. In each of these, issues around lack of outdoor activity, obesity, health and mental wellbeing are stretching the workloads of our health and social care systems as well as undermining the aspirations of the next generation to live well and prosper in the places they call home.

Pennine Prospects is a unique rural regeneration company created in 2005 as a champion for the South Pennines. It is an award-winning partnership organisation that has secured national and European funding to deliver a wide range of projects aimed at promoting, protecting and enhancing the built, natural and cultural heritage of the South Pennines and the socio-economic wellbeing of its communities.

You will have a clear understanding of:

- Project management

- Business and delivery planning

- Finance and funding models

- Working with diverse partners and stakeholders

- Research, monitoring and evaluation

- Great communications and influencing

- Understanding of working with the Third Sector as well as multi-sectors such as the collaborative partnership of Pennine Prospects with its public, private and third sector engagement

- IT and social media impacts
