A family photographic treasure hunt on Ilkley Moor will offer fun for all ages this February half term.

On Monday, February 13, Pennine Prospects is running a fun photo challenge on Ilkley Moor, part of the South Pennines Watershed Landscape, in partnership with Bradford Museums and Galleries.
Anna Carter, Interpretation Officer for the project, has invited families to join her at the Cow and Calf car park at 1pm for the workshop. “Join us to learn top tips on how to take beautiful photographs as you complete our photograph treasure hunt to win a prize,” Anna added: “Please wrap up warm as it can be very chilly on the moors.”

Photographs which capture the essence of winter may be entered into the Watershed Landscape photography competition. Winning photographs will be displayed in an exhibition, entitled Moor Views, at the Manor House Museum and Art Gallery, which opens on Saturday, April 21.

Anna explained: “The South Pennine uplands have been a source of inspiration for decades and continue to excite a new generation of artists, writers, performers and musicians.

“To celebrate our final artist in residence, photographer and filmmaker Simon Warner, the Watershed Landscape team have asked budding photographers to capture the essence of the moorlands through the lens of their camera. Moor Views will exhibit the competition images alongside pieces from the museum and gallery collection as we explore the unique character and changing weather of this special and inspirational landscape.”

Places on the family photographic treasure hunt are free but limited. The event is suitable for ages 5 and above and all children must be accompanied by an adult. Cameras are available but participants are welcome to bring their own.
