We Are Looking for LEADER Community Projects : Large or small!

Is your community group putting together an innovative rural development project?

Does your project involve;
i) developing, promoting and celebrating the South Pennines’ distinctive cultural heritage and landscape?
ii) developing and promoting the strong “sense of place” felt by communities across the South Pennines?
iii) assisting in the promotion and development of the tourism and recreational economy in a sustainable manner?
iv) improving the quality of life of South Pennine communities by assisting in equitable access to services and allowing residents to benefit from sustainable community facilities?

We are calling for community projects that could be funded under the South Pennines LEADER programme. The following deadlines apply;

25th January 2010 (to go to LAG meeting on 4th February)
2nd April 2010 (to go to LAG meeting on 13th April)
1st October 2010 (to go to LAG meeting on 12th October)
3rd December 2010 (to go to LAG meeting on 13th December)

Larger projects will be expected to fit the themes, objectives and priorities outlined in the application pack and here on line.

Above all, the Local Action Group recognises that it has a limited budget and so it is looking for multi-objective projects that are LOCALLY DISTINCTIVE, INNOVATIVE, involve WIDE PARTNERSHIP WORKING, represent GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY and those which leave a LASTING LEGACY to the South Pennines LEADER area.

For smaller scale projects there is now a SMALL GRANTS FUND for those groups wanting funding from £500 – £2000. You can apply for a Small Grant AT ANY TIME as the application is dealt with electronically by a sub group of the LAG. Your application does not have wait to go to a LAG meeting. You will receive a small grants decision within 14 days of submitting your application.
